The Board of Education will hold its regular monthly meeting on Thursday, January 15, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. in the District Board Room, 5 Veterans Parkway, Columbia, Illinois.
As always, public participation is an important part of the meeting. Visitors who wish to speak during public comment will have the opportunity to do so, with comments limited to three minutes per speaker. The meeting will be livestreamed at the District’s YouTube channel.
The meeting will begin with routine business, including the call to order, the Pledge of Allegiance, and recognition of visitors. Board members will then consider the Consent Agenda, which includes approval of meeting minutes, financial items, and a number of personnel actions. Among these are resignations, new hires for educational support roles and certified positions, approval of leaves of absence, extracurricular assignments, and class advancements for non-certified staff.
Several staffing updates will also be addressed, including the declaration of vacancies in areas such as Human Resources and Operations, elementary and high school teaching positions, and student supervision roles.
Later in the meeting, the Board will hear a series of reports and presentations, including an enrollment update and reports from building administrators, the Assistant Superintendent, and the Superintendent. These reports provide insight into current operations, enrollment trends, and district-wide initiatives.
The Board will then move to Items for Action, including a vote on an Early Release Wednesday and approval of a new job description for the Curriculum Director position. Discussion items will follow, highlighted by a facility study that will help guide future planning and maintenance decisions. Individual Board members will also have the opportunity to share comments.
The meeting may include an Executive Session to discuss personnel matters, student disciplinary cases, and special education placements, as permitted under Illinois law. Any required actions following Executive Session will be taken before the meeting adjourns.
Community members are encouraged to attend or tune in to stay informed about the decisions and discussions shaping the future of the District.
